We like We is an experimental performanceand sound collective based in Copenhagen, Denmark. Expanding their inspiration and influence from their classical roots to the world of electronic music, We like We has a dynamic and intuitional sound beyond the grid of genres. We like We consists of core members Katrine Grarup Elbo (violin) and Sara Nigard Rosendal (percussion), but the duo also expands into other cross aesthetic constellations. Both of them are classically trained and they share a desire for constantly expanding their expression and methods, taking on a variety of projects such as albums, installations, commissions and site specific performances. Their debut album a new Age of Sensibility was released in 2014 on the Danish label The Being Music followed by Next to the entire All, released in 2017 and Time Is Local from 2019 both released on the German label Sonic Pieces. Since 2012 We like We has played at festivals, museums, and venues such as Daylight Music (UK), Eurosonic Noorderslag (NL), Festival Musica Estranha (BR), ARoS (DK), Nordklang Festival (CH), Roskilde Festival (DK), Fusion Festival (DE), Classical:NEXT (NL), Dias Nordicos (ES), National Gallery of Denmark (DK), BRDCST Festival (BE), Sound Of Stockholm (SE), Copenhagen Opera Festival (DK), and Frost Festival (DK). The 12 hour multi channel concert installation and album Time is Local, which was composed with the renowned Danish sound artist Jacob Kirkegaard, was premiered in November 2017 at Thorvaldsens Museum in Copenhagen, and contained a unique combination of sonic evocations from the chambers of the museum and the acoustic sound of We like We. We like We composed the music for the new opera Myte om Mørke / Myth on Darkness (Copenhagen Opera Festival August 2019), a remake of the Renaissance opera Orfeus by Claudio Monteverdi (premiered May 2021 at Den Fynske Opera), and their third opera is to be premiered in 2024. Et levende monument / A living monument is a collaboration between We like We and stage designers Simone Bartholin og Rosa Birkedal. The project has been developed at residencies at The Museum of Contemporary Art (Roskilde, DK) and ARoS (Aarhus, DK) throughout 2021 and 2022. We like We was founded by Katinka Fogh Vindelev, Josefine Opsahl, Katrine Grarup Elbo and Sara Nigard Rosendal in 2012.
