FRAM
95% of the music performed on Norwegian concert stages today is composed by men (Karlstrøm, 2019), despite the fact that there are enormous amounts of high-quality music written by women composers. At FRAM we want to do something about this gross imbalance - which is why we have started a concert series that plays exclusively music made by women! FRAM is the concert series that looks precisely forward. The project started in autumn 2021 and has been running ever since. A number of exciting concerts have been held, with a wide range of classical, jazz and folk music on the programme. The concert series has received a very good response and has distinguished itself with its young and diverse audience. The concert series is meant to be an arena where audiences can have their eyes opened to new and exciting contemporary music written by women, while also discovering forgotten treasures from the composers who through the ages have ended up in the shadow of their male colleagues. The aim is to help ensure that the music-Norway of the future represents a more equal society, with room for music written by all kinds of people!
