Dear audience! We are incredibly proud to welcome you to the seventh edition of Norsjø kammermusikkfest! The past year has been very different for all of us. Because of the lockdown and short notice, we had to cancel last year's festival. This year we are planning a safe festival for musicians, audience and everyone else involved. In Norway we are so fortunate to have young musicians at the international top level, who will take us into the world of chamber music with everything from Mozart to world premieres by young Norwegian composers over the course of 6 concerts. Each concert has its own theme. At the opening concert in Gullbring kulturanlegg we open with a bang in Brahms's energetic piano quartet, before the legendary violinist and musical personality Arve Tellefsen takes the stage and performs his favourites with the festival artists. The concert in Granvin kulturhus we dedicate to Romantic music, presenting among other things Schönberg's great masterpiece «Verklärte Nacht». In Telemarksgalleriet we have tailored a programme to the splendid acoustics, and you can hear, among other things, Brahms's beautiful horn trio. On Friday evening we invite you to a «Norwegian festival concert» at Ibsenhuset with works by Grieg, Sæverud and Bjarne Brustad, among others. At Villa Lunde we hold a lunch concert with «Opera-potpourri», where the music ranges from Mozart to Saariaho. This year's festival closes in beautiful Nes kyrkje with new Norwegian music by Klaus Sandvik, among others. For several years Norsjø kammermusikfest has had close collaboration with Midgardkonkurransen and invites some of the winning participants each year. Last year's winner of the prestigious Midgardprisen, the Sonoro string quartet, will play, among other things, «Dover Beach» by Samuel Barber with festival performer Jørgen Backer. Young local performers will also take part in this year's festival, playing together with the festival artists. This year there will be as many as eight world premieres, which we think will be a record among Norwegian festivals this year. We have invited young composers from Norges musikkhøgskole to write music for the festival. In addition, Norsjø kammermusikkfest, in collaboration with Valdres sommersymfoni and Midtåsen kulturfestival, has commissioned a string sextet by Peder Barratt-Due. And last but not least, artistic director Martin Ødegaard has written a work for solo viola for his colleague Eivind Ringstad. Best wishes from the artistic directors, Eivind Ringstad, Øyvind Sundsvalen and Martin Ødegaard
