In 1991 Risør kammermusikkfest was established with the following objective:
“Risør kammermusikkfest is a non-profit foundation whose purpose is to organise an annual chamber music festival, presenting both central classical music and more recent repertoire. It shall strive to find musicians - both Norwegian and foreign - who maintain a recognised high artistic standard, or who have documented an indisputable talent. The chamber music festival shall be a national and international forum for chamber music and shall also stimulate music and cultural life in Risør and the region.”
Her Royal Highness Crown Princess Mette-Marit is the high patron of the festival.
