Glogerfestspillene
26. jan. - 30. jan.
Kongsberg
Glogerfestspillene celebrate their 20th anniversary in January 2022. Kongsberg kirke is the main venue for the festival, but there is also a gala concert in Kongsberg Musikkteater, breakfast concerts in Sølvsalen, a chamber concert in Bergseminaret, a festival pub at Energimølla and two intimate house concerts.
The opening concert is devoted entirely to the Gloger organ, with none other than the organist of Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris, Olivier Latry, in the organ gallery. The festival is also fortunate that Nils Henrik Asheim has written the commissioned work "Weightless Gold" especially for the anniversary festival. The commissioned work will receive its world premiere at the anniversary concert.
The anniversary programme offers a music-theatrical experiment in the church space with Liv Kristin Holmberg and her project Søvnens liturgi. Trondheimsolistene and Nordic Voices, ensembles that have both helped colour the history of Glogerfestspillene, can be heard at several concerts. The former artistic director, Sveinung Bjelland, is back in Kongsberg for the anniversary, and the tuba player and this year's cover musician Daniel Herskedal shares his sonic universe.
There will be youthful glow as always, represented among others by the string quartet Opus13, Young Artist Gloger Academy students (organists) and the skilled local forces from the cultural school and the music programme in Kongsberg. With so many exciting organists in the town, the traditional organ quarter is extended to an organ half-hour in Kongsberg kirke most mornings.
For the youngest, MiniGloger is arranged. This is the children's own festival with theatre, music and activities on the Krona festival Saturday.
Katinka Goldberg is the festival artist in the anniversary year and exhibits "Bristningar" in the Kunstforeningen premises at Galleri Låven.
Glogerfestspillene 2022 start already on the Sunday of the festival week with an evening service where Joseph Haydn's chamber work "Salve Regina" is performed. A week later the festival week ends with the traditional Festspillgudstjenesten and the closing concert Stjernenatt.
"The music is what lasts, ends and begins again," Edvard Hoem wrote for Glogerfestspillene 2004. There is an arc from his prologue to this year's festival, where Lars Saabye Christensen sets the tone for what the musical experiences mean to us. Welcome to festive reflection under the sign of music!
