Over 26 years, Trondheim kammermusikkfestival (Kamfest) has established itself as one of Europe's leading chamber music festivals, not least attracting attention for its creative programming, youthfulness and innovative profile. The presentation of an annual festival composer, talent development through the Trondheim International Chamber Music Competition & Academy, and Fargespill Trondheim are some of the main elements of the festival's programme. Kamfest has also made its mark as an active initiator for cultural life locally and nationally, and the festival is not least at the forefront when it comes to innovative music communication. This year's festival has a large programme with experiences from morning till evening. This year's festival composer, the Austrian Olga Neuwirth, is not only one of the most respected composers in Europe today, but also a video artist, writer and politically active. She brings with her the great international event: the world premiere of Neuwirth's Double Concerto for cello, percussion and orchestra. This year's festival opening will take place at K-U-K through a walking concert with an entirely Trøndelag content and an extra focus on the coming generation of musicians and artists. Another important piece of this year's programme is the double bass. Together with Norsk kontrabassklubb, the festival raises awareness of this majestic instrument. Solo double bassist of the Berlin Philharmonic, Matthew McDonald, will be the big draw, especially at the concert Bassissimo! Det Norske Solistkor, together with Tuva Syvertsen, Hans-Kristian Kjos Sørensen and Trondheimssolistene, offers a magical Night Concert in Nidarosdomen, and Fargespill Trondheim and Luftforsvarets musikkorps invite you to a big performance in Olavshallen on the festival's final day. You can find the rest of this year's festival programme at www.kamfest.no.
