Fagerborgfestspillene - Rom & Relasjoner
27. apr. - 30. apr.
Oslo
Fagerborgfestspillene is a student-run festival by the students at Barratt Due musikkinstitutt.
A hearty welcome to Fagerborgfestspillene! We in this year's graduating class at Barratt Due musikkinstitutt have worked towards this for a long time, and are proud to finally be able to show it to you. Get ready for four days filled to the brim with music! For the first two days we invite you to chamber concerts at Barratt Due, where you get to know both us in the festival team and the rest of the students at the school better. On 29 and 30 April the result of an entirely new collaboration is presented. Barratt Due has joined forces with Kunsthøgskolen i Oslo to stage an opera performance consisting of two Norwegian operas on the main stage of Kunsthøgskolen. There will be a world premiere of Alfred Andersen-Wingar's "Die alte Methode", followed by the first act of the almost equally unknown work "Frühlingsnacht" by Gerhard Schjelderup. A long-awaited collaboration between two important art institutions, which we hope and believe can help challenge the sector to broader collaboration to secure the future of art in our city.
"The bow is tightened. The fingers strum gently over the strings, as the drummer raises the sticks. A cough from the auditorium, a door closes, it falls completely silent. They look at each other and nod gently. She dares a small smile to her brother who has come from far away to finally hear her sing again. The first note is struck. A tender, trembling sound spreads across the audience, and a room has come into being. A room where music is received with joy, astonishment, admiration, regardless of genre, time and place. Where the bonds between performers, audience and music play a quite decisive role in how we choose to shape the one note, the big chord, in how exactly that phrase, even that pause, hits her in the fifth row who only just made it to the concert. The two at the very back holding hands, him on the edge who would rather have been at the cabin. The gang in the front row looking forward to finally hearing a world premiere again, and her right beside them, at her first classical concert, who against all expectations will soon realise that Schubert's music is among the most beautiful she knows. Time stands still, and we are all gathered for one single thing: to experience precisely this, precisely now, like this, together. Banal, obvious, self-evident. Unifying, challenging, vital. FF23: Space & relationships. For you who are a seasoned concert-goer and want to experience the music in a new way. And for you who have never heard of either Schubert or Fagerborgfestspillene, who want to experience something completely new".
