MEMO-festivalen - MEst MOzart
14. apr. - 15. apr.
Sandefjord
After a successful celebration of the spring equinox with the performance Equinox, it is with the greatest pleasure that we present the MEMO festival and the solution to the riddle MEMO!
MOST MOZART
is what we shall delight in across three concerts on 14 and 15 April.
Mozart's music is as lively as spring itself - and together with spring-inspired music by other composers, it begins with
MOZART MEETS NORDIC MASTERS!
in Den Grønne Sal at Park Hotel on Friday 14 April at 19.00 with
Birgitte Christensen, soprano, and Tor Espen Aspaas, piano.
From Mozart's world of fantasy come, among other things, the Fantasia in D minor and the Alla turca fantasy for piano, and so on, while the Nordic tones of spring are presented through Edvard Grieg's Haugtussa and Five Songs, Op. 37 by Jean Sibelius. A truly international rush of spring!
Birgitte Christensen is one of the country's foremost sopranos - and she has a major international career on stages such as the Staatsoper and Komische Oper in Berlin, the Semperoper in Dresden, the Opera National de Paris and the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam. Tor Espen Aspaas is a much sought-after pianist - both as a soloist and as a chamber musician - and has for many years been a professor at the Norwegian Academy of Music.
--------------------------------
Mozart's Divertimento in E flat major, K. 563 in a sense burst the limits of what was called entertainment music - or divertimento music. Composed primarily to entertain the aristocracy, this merry table music in six movements is performed at MEMO by
SSENS TRIO
Sølve Sigerland, violin, Henninge Landaas, viola, and Ellen M. Flesjø, cello,
in Den Grønne Sal at Park Hotel on Saturday 15 April at 15.00.
They also offer Schubert's delightful ”little” Trio movement in B flat major, D. 471, before a pleasant break until
Håvard Gimse meets Ssens Trio
in Den Grønne Sal at Park Hotel on Saturday 15 April at 17.00.
Gimse first plays one movement each by the Viennese composers Haydn, Beethoven, Schubert - and of course Mozart - before the four musicians close the MEMO festival with Mozart's Piano Trio in G minor, K. 478.
And after these three concerts we are guaranteed to be left wanting MOre MOzart!
We would like to include a rather long interval at the Friday concert - and there will be a good break between the two concerts on the Saturday - where we offer coffee/tea, mingling and a presentation of this year's programme out on the Balustraden at the hotel.
Each of the concerts costs kr 375,-/100,- (children/young people under 20) + fees, and can be booked at:
