A warm welcome to Akerselva Kammermusikkfestival! For the third time we are back to explore a red-hot theme with the most beautiful tool we have: chamber music! With the title På jorda (On earth), this year we direct the focus towards different aspects of life on earth; from the inner to the outer world; emotional life, climate and the change of nature. Ladies first! / Opening concert with Oslo Circles, Torshov kirke, Sunday 8 October at The festival opens with moving and extraordinary music written by women composers with unconventional lives. The Baroque ensemble Oslo Circles guides us through a concert where we get to know these women from (present-day) Italy who fought for their right to be heard. SOL / Family performance with NyNorsk Messingkvintett, Det Andre Teatret (Den Andre Scenen), Sunday 15 October This warm winter-darkness performance touches on the themes of loneliness, community and mental health. Together with NyNorsk Messingkvintett you will experience Silje Aker Johnsen (soprano) and Frank Havrøy (baritone) in the leading roles. Ekspressiv skjønnhet / Bacewicz and Penderecki with Akerselva festivalensemble, Torshov kirke, Sunday 22 October The festival's last day starts with a powerful and intense concert of music by the two Polish giants Grażyna Bacewicz and Krzysztof Penderecki. We get to hear two of their most beloved works: Bacewicz's Piano Quintet No. 1 and Penderecki's Sextet for clarinet, horn, string trio and piano. På jorda / Closing concert with Det norske damekor, Torshov kirke, Sunday 22 October After a journey in the inner world we return to earth. Det norske damekor performs, together with the cellists Mirjam Kammler, Cathy Donnelly and Marit Johansen, 3 Norwegian works with a strong connection to nature. For this concert Stine Sørlie has written an entirely new work. The audience is also warmly welcome to a panel discussion on the contribution of cultural life to the green transition, where we ask questions such as: What role can cultural life play in the green transition? What can we contribute?
