The theme of the festival week is Light and Darkness, and we bring the concept to life through music. Light and darkness are two fundamental elements for everyone. The concerts will, in several ways, give us insight into the abstract concept and what it can represent. Light can be clarity, optimism and life, while darkness symbolises the unknown, the frightening, mystery, but perhaps also calm.
The unique thing about music is the magic of the moment and that emotions are conveyed. The music presented during Johan Halvorsen Musikkfest is a great interplay of moods, from light to darkness. From the melancholic and dramatic to the brilliant and hopeful. From the unknown and challenging to the optimistic and beautiful.
