From a grand opening concert with Kristiansand symfoniorkester and no fewer than six soloists, to a film evening, a mountain-pasture walk, stunt concerts, world premieres and musical yoga! You will not want to miss this year's festival.
This year Valdres sommersymfoni turns 30. Over these years several thousand students, artists and audience members have found their way to Valdres, and from being a small summer course for children, we now have an event that embraces an international chamber music festival with top-tier artists, as well as Europe's largest series of courses for children, young people and students in classical music.
Valdres sommersymfoni has established itself as one of Norway's leading classical chamber music festivals and presents some of the world's foremost classical performers every year. The international chamber music festival offers around 30 concerts and events at about 15 locations throughout Valdres and attracts around 9.000 visitors every year.
Audiences meet international star musicians in idyllic surroundings such as barns, (stave) churches or out in the beautiful Valdres countryside, and get to experience warm and inspiring encounters with classical music. Valdres sommersymfoni is part of Norsk ressurssenter for klassisk musikk KF, which runs the festival, the courses and national and international projects.
