On 14-16 February 2020 the violinist and Alta native Miriam Helms Ålien invited all of Finnmark, and music lovers across the country, to the first edition of FESTIVALTA - Finnmarks kammermusikkfestival; a weekend of magical concert experiences surrounded by sparkling North Norwegian winter nature. As the very first festival of its kind north of Harstad, FESTIVALTA boldly bets from the start on an international all-star line-up of artists. All of them are known for their uncompromising life-and-death attitude to the music they convey. Artistic director Miriam brings with her the super-violinist Alexander Sitkovetsky, the French cello prodigy Bruno Philippe, the Dutch viola princess Dana Zemtsov and music chameleon and badass cellist Eckart Runge (of Artemiskvartetten), in addition to homegrown favourites such as the European virtuoso-competition winner Eivind Ringstad and Northern Norway's piano jewel Nils Anders Mortensen. FESTIVALTA aims to become a new arena for experiencing, being moved and being engaged by top-shelf classical music, both for those who are already super fans and for those who are perhaps curious but have not yet experienced the magic live.
