The festival began as an idea among a few musical enthusiasts and has become an important tradition and meeting place for the local music community in Sunnmøre.
Every year the festival organises concerts for audiences in Søre Sunnmøre. The musical experiences are at the centre, with a focus on high quality from fine Norwegian and international musicians. The soul of chamber music is communication, and the music is intimate, beautiful and often challenging. For many composers and musicians, chamber music is a genre that means extra much, because it is personal and entirely dependent on each individual musician and the interplay between them. That is why we also place great emphasis on a close and intimate encounter between musicians, audience and music at our concerts.
Interplay at a high level is also found when the festival musicians meet the local music community through a festival choir, masterclasses, a talent competition, café concerts, talks and much more.
The festival's artistic directors, Annar Follesø and Wolfgang Plagge, put together a varied programme every year that we hope delights, challenges and awakens new feelings, thoughts and interests in the audience.
