Barokkfest is a festival of classical music held in Trondheim every year at the turn of January-February. The festival has been held annually since 2013 and has quickly developed into one of Scandinavia's major festivals in its field. The festival wishes to offer first-class musical experiences in exceptional, historic surroundings. Nidarosdomen, the world's northernmost medieval cathedral, together with the adjoining Erkebispegården, are among the atmospheric venues that form the setting for Barokkfest. The festival programme offers world-leading artists and focuses on opera and church music repertoire.
In parallel with Barokkfest, a separate festival of literature is held, Barokkfest's sister festival, “SPOR Festival for idéhistorie og oversatt litteratur”. SPOR has a main focus on the literary heritage of antiquity and topical social questions, often seen through captivating and new angles.
