Akerselva Kammermusikkfestival
1. apr. - 3. apr.
Oslo
The theme of this year's festival is More voices – curious about classical diversity. We continue the thread from last year by presenting a large proportion of female composers, but in this edition have chosen to widen the spotlight.
It is easy to get the impression that classical music is single-track – with music almost exclusively written by European men – but if you scratch the surface a little, many treasures from different cultures appear. We want this festival to be a tribute to diversity.
At the festival we present:
– Ensemble Wirakocha: South American baroque music with European polyphony, African rhythm and original American folk tunes
newly written music with Sámi roots by and with Frode Fjellheim
– Indian classical music with Harpreet Bansal Trio
– African-American spirituals in classical dress by Florence Price
– music by the 1700s French-Guadeloupean superstar Joseph Bologne Chevalier de Saint-George and much more…
We live in a diverse society – can classical music mirror it?
