Oslo Internasjonale Kirkemusikkfestival is proud to present the programme for 2023. The festival is again held in two rounds - 11-19 March and 2-10 September. As always, the festival offers topical themes and a musical programme with broad appeal; from audience-beloved classics to new commissioned works, and not least world-leading choirs, orchestras and soloists from Norway and abroad. Audiences can look forward to magical concert experiences with critically acclaimed performers such as Wiener Sängerknaben, Jordi Savall, Vox Clamantis, Tenebrae, Christian Schmitt and Amarcord. This year's festival theme “Øst for den vestlige kirkemusikken” sheds light on church music from new angles and takes us on a journey from Estonian hymns to Persian vocal art, Czech piano pieces, Finnish contemporary music and, not least, a world premiere with texts from the Quran. Oslo Internasjonale Kirkemusikkfestival is held annually over 10 days in March, and since its start in 2001 has established itself as a national and international provider of high-quality artistic projects. The festival presents the generic breadth of church music. With a musical span from the Middle Ages to our own time, the festival is a significant custodian of early music, but also an important communicator of contemporary expression. In addition to ordinary concerts, the audience is invited to lectures, masterclasses and open rehearsals.
