Oslo Kammerakademi plays chamber music for wind players with the historical Harmonie wind band instrumentation as its starting point, and it is Oslo-Filharmonien's principal oboist David Friedemann Strunck who is the initiator and artistic director of the ensemble. The ensemble has established itself as a leader in Europe with critically acclaimed CD recordings and invitations and re-invitations to prestigious festivals such as Rheingau Musik Festival, Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival, «Summerwinds» Holzbläserfestival Münsterland, Glogerfestspillene, Fartein Valen-festivalen, Trondheim kammermusikkfestival, Stavanger Kammermusikfestival, Valdres Sommersymfoni and others. Oslo Kammerakademi uses historical brass instruments in music from the Baroque, Classical and Romantic periods. This contributes to the ensemble's authentic sound and historically informed performance practice. Oslo Kammerakademi also performs newly written music for wind band. Ever since its debut in 2009 the ensemble has had the ambition of embracing the whole breadth of the literature for Harmonie ensemble – all the way from its origins in Vienna in the 1780s to the music of our own time. The ensemble gave the first performances of Sultan Selim IIIs siste dager by Mert Karabey in 2011, den første venleiken by Magnar Åm in 2012, Retour á la Nature by Ketil Hvoslef in 2015, G8 by Trygve Brøske in 2016, The Silk Road by Gisle Kverndokk in 2017 and I Vesterled by Morten Gaathaug in 2019. Oslo Kammerakademi regularly plays concerts at Scene 2 and in Prøvesalen at Den Norske Opera & Ballett. The ensemble celebrated its 10-year anniversary in 2019 with, among other things, a tour to Germany and a magnificent anniversary concert. In 2019 the ensemble was also able to launch its own festival: SKI HAGEFESTIVAL - klassisk i det grønne.
