Swedish National Orchestra Academy (SNOA)

Dirigent: Simon Crawford-Phillips

Description

Swedish National Orchestra Academy (SNOA) presents The Secret of Heaven. Pär Lagerkvist's one-act play The Secret of Heaven was turned into a dance version, "Maison de fous" (House of Fools), by the Ballets Suédois in Paris in 1920. It was a success, not least thanks to the music of the young composer Viking Dahl. After his years in Paris he became organist at Varberg church for many years. In SNOA (the nickname of the Swedish National Orchestra Academy) we hear a suite from the stirring ballet music. We also hear Edvard Grieg's Peer Gynt Suite and Pyotr Tchaikovsky's Fourth Symphony. SNOA is affiliated with the Academy of Music and Drama at the University of Gothenburg and is also closely linked to Göteborgs Symfoniker. It is the master's students in symphonic orchestral playing who form the ensemble. Students from all over the world apply to the orchestral training. Simon Crawford-Phillips is the artistic director of SNOA and conducts the orchestra in this project. The concert is part of the festival Halländsk Musikfestival – Classical Music Close to You and is arranged by Musik Hallandia and Change Music Festival. Read more on the website of the Halländska Musikfestivalen. Programme: Viking Dahl: Suite from The Secret of Heaven (Maison de fous) Grieg: Peer Gynt Suite Tchaikovsky: Symphony No. 4
