Christmas Concert

Description

When Kajsa Balto meets Nordiska kammarorkestern, it is a Christmas concert that holds both tradition and renewal. The stories of Christmas are familiar, even if the words are new. Well-known melodies such as O holy Night are given new words, while traditional joik and original compositions are woven in. Also taking part in the concert is Sverker Sörlin, professor of environmental history and author of the book Snow – A History. Through Sverker's reflections the listener gets glimpses of a childhood in Västerbotten interwoven with observations on the role of snow in our time. When Kajsa Balto and Sverker Sörlin step into the Tonhallen in December it will therefore be not only a Christmas concert – but a meeting of languages, memories, winter and music that carries far beyond the festive season. The concert is part of Abonnemang Tonhallen.
