Musikaliska
Nybrokajen 11, 111 48 Stockholm
Musikaliska's history can be traced to the second half of the 1800s, when Oscar II had construction of the property started. The idea was that the Royal Swedish Academy of Music would get the home it had lacked for many years. With the inauguration in 1878 Sweden had got its first concert hall.
Today Musikaliska consists of three activities: Blåsarsymfonikerna, Länsmusiken i Stockholm and Musikaliska. Blåsarsymfonikerna is a modern and curious wind symphony orchestra that stands out for its boldness and its unusually great breadth of genre. The orchestra gives about ten concerts per season at Musikaliska together with renowned soloists, but also plays out in the county. Länsmusiken i Stockholm has the remit of spreading music in Stockholm County, in all genres and from different cultures, above all to children and young people. Musikaliska has a broad concert offering with classical music, contemporary art music, folk and world music, family concerts, jazz, etc. Events, seminars and conferences are also held here.
Every year about 90 000 people take part in Musikaliska's concert offering and over 600 concerts are organised annually, both in the building and around Stockholm County.
