From Darkness to Light

Beskrivning

A Lucia performance that takes the audience on a symbolically charged journey from the deepest darkness into radiant light, with Lucia and her attendants embodying the light itself. The performance is woven from a carefully curated selection of choral pieces, their texts and music forming a continuous thread that guides us from darkness to light. The performance opens in darkness with the traditional Swedish kulning call transformed into a cry for help. As the thunder fades, Hör Tystnaden ("Hear the Silence") emerges. Then Lucia and her procession enter with the familiar Lucia songs, and the performance concludes with the hymn Härlig är jorden. The acclaimed production from Engelbrektskyrkan, Stockholm, performed at Confidencen by the award-winning choirs Stockholms Unga Röster and Karin Bäckström Vocalis, joined by organist Stefan Therstam. Choreography by Christine Löfgren. Age limit: 6+. Two performances on the same day.
