2026 markerer 400-året for John Dowlands død. Komponisten og lutenisten, som var ansat ved det danske hof under Kong Christian IV (1598-1606) er således hovednavn på åbningskoncerten denne aften, hvor engelske lutenist, Elizabeth Kenny og japanske gambist Reiko Ichise, sammen med danske sopran og operasanger Clara Cecilie Thomsen inviterer indenfor til en stemningsfyldt koncert i den smukke Trinitatis Kirke. ”Fantasies of greatness” giver et unikt historisk indblik i musikken som klingede i København under Kong Christian IV. Musikere: Clara Cecilie Thomsen, sopran; Elizabeth Kenny, lut & Reiko Ichise, gambe Musik af John Dowland (1563-1626) og Tobias Hume (1569-1645) 2026 marks the 400th anniversary of John Dowland’s death. The composer and lutenist, who was employed at the Danish court under King Christian IV (1598–1606), is the central figure of this evening’s opening concert. English lutenist Elizabeth Kenny and Japanese gambist Reiko Ichise join Danish soprano and opera singer Clara Cecilie Thomsen to present an atmospheric concert in the beautiful Trinitatis Church. Fantasies of Greatness offers a unique historical insight into the music that resonated in Copenhagen during the reign of King Christian IV.
