Description

Opera is not for me, you may be thinking? We would argue that you will like opera in a pub. Here the atmosphere is relaxed, the singers tell you what they are singing about, and you can enjoy food and drink with a clear conscience while hearing some of the most beautiful opera arias that the operatic repertoire has to offer. There are three short sets of singing and plenty of time to chat and enjoy yourself between the sets. Drop in, why don't you! There are usually two singers and a pianist performing at Operapub, but sometimes there are more singers. Many people discover that opera in a pub is far more fun than they had imagined. It is wise to book a table in advance - it was often full last season. Welcome to season 7 of Operapub at Grønland Boulebar. Performers Frida Augusta Gudim, soprano Solvi Skogstad, mezzo-soprano Olga Jørgensen, piano Tickets Free admission Book a table here Address Grønlandsleiret 27 A little history As early as 1985 Norway's first opera pub opened at Picadilly Pub in Bodø. The first opera pub in Oslo saw the light of day in 1993 at Underwater Pub at St. Hanshaugen. It was an immediate success and gradually developed into an institution in the city. In 2018 Underwater Pub was unfortunately forced to close. Opera til folket started its first opera pub at Dockside at Aker Brygge in 2002. Since then they have organised opera pubs at a number of places in Oslo, including Café Frölich, Kristiania Bar & Kafé in Østbanehallen, Café Amsterdam, Røverstaden and Teaterkjeller’n. Now they have started a collaboration with Grønland Boulebar. They have a unique concept and are, as far as we know, the only ones in Oslo who combine boules, food, drink and opera. In June the trade magazine Ballade ran a great article about the Operapub at Grønland. And as Ola Nordal says there: «In Oslo, "everyone" has stories about the legendary opera pub at Underwater. But I think what is happening at Grønland is better - not least because it is something that is happening now.» Many thanks to Nordal, who has shown great commitment to our Operapub. It means so much. You can read the whole article here PublikUng PublikUng is an organisation that lowers the threshold for young people to go to opera and classical music concerts. The vision is to spread interest in these art forms and make them more accessible to young people between 18 and 30. PublikUng now has around 1 500 members, and it costs only kr 50 to become a member. The only rule is that if you have received a free or very cheap ticket to a concert or performance, the registration is binding. You must therefore use your ticket. If you do not, we unfortunately have to charge a fee. There is almost always a waiting list, and someone else will gladly use the seat if you cannot come. So let us know as soon as possible if you cannot use the ticket after all. You can also pass it on to a friend. Become a member of Opera til folket Membership has a one-off price of kr 250 and gives you, among other things, discounted tickets to most of the events at Gamle Raadhus Scene. When you sign up, you will receive an e-mail with payment information. Go to the front page of Opera til folket and sign up. You will find the registration form at the bottom of the page.
