Description

An evening poised between the mystical, the brand new and the romantic. In the concert series Encore, this evening we invite you to Gamle Raadhus Scene, where music meets across eras, expressions and emotions. Through three unique works we explore conversation in music – from meditative Spanish mysticism, through a brand-new Norwegian world premiere, to one of Romanticism's most beloved masterpieces. Inspired by the Spanish mystic Teresa of Ávila's «The Interior Castle». The work is an intense and meditative journey into the human mind, shaped as a powerful dialogue of sonorities between violin and cello. Bjørn Bolstad Skjelbred: Liquid World: dialog 2 (World premiere) In the newly written duo for violin and cello, Skjelbred's work explores fluid states and shifting forms, where the instruments are woven in and out of each other's sound worlds. Aleksandr Borodin: String Quartet No. 2 in D major The concert is rounded off with pure Romanticism. Borodin's second string quartet was written as a declaration of love to his wife and is known for its sparkling energy, beautiful melodies and the famous Notturno movement. Performers Patrycja Blaszak-Bienkunska – violin Johannes Sciacco Schantz – violin Arthur Bedouelle – viola Marek Bieńkuński – cello The concert is supported by Norsk Komponistforening and Oslo kommune. The vision is to spread an interest in these art forms and make them more accessible to those between 18 and 30. PublikUng now has just under 2000 members, and it costs only kr 50,- to become a member. The only rule is that if you have received a free or very cheap ticket to a concert/performance, your registration is binding. You MUST then use your ticket. If you do not, unfortunately a fine may follow. There is always a long waiting list, and someone else who would like to go in your place, if you cannot. So please let us know if you are not going to use your ticket after all. You can also give it to a friend. Sign up via publikung.no Become a member of Opera til folket Membership has a one-off price of kr 250,- and gives you, among other things, discounted tickets for most tickets at Gamle Raadhus Scene!
