THE NATIONAL TREASURE COMES HOME
Schola Sanctae Sunnivae
Description
Nidarosantifonariet – The national treasure comes home! For several hundred years one of Norway's greatest musical treasures lay hidden and forgotten. Now it is coming home to Nidarosdomen. On 28 October Schola Sanctae Sunnivae invites you to the launch concert for Antiphonarium Nidrosisense – a historic double CD of Gregorian chant from Nidaros. With this recording, all the surviving material from Nidarosantifonariet has been documented and recorded in its entirety. Nidarosantifonariet is the oldest, and one of the largest and most coherent surviving manuscripts from the Norwegian Middle Ages. After the Reformation the manuscript was saved by being used as wrapping paper on account books. Today it is kept at Det Kongelige Bibliotek in Copenhagen. Since 2010 Schola Sanctae Sunnivae has worked to restore, document and rehearse the music. Now the audience can join part of this journey – in Nidarosdomen, where the music has its historical roots! With Lars Sitter on percussion, Oluf Dimitri Røe on fiddle and voice and Vegard Sandholt on bells, Gregorian chant meets new sounds and expressions. We also have with us children and young people from Trondheim kommunale kulturskole, Nidarosdomens jentekor, Trondheim Katedralskole and Heimdal videregående skole. 📅 28 October ⏰ 20:00 📍 Nidarosdomen 🎫 Regular 300,-//Student/child FREE! ⚜️About Schola Sanctae Sunnivae⚜️ Schola Sanctae Sunnivae is a Trondheim-based vocal ensemble with 14 female singers, established in 1992.
