Fauré Requiem - Trondenesdagene 2026

Description

One of the best-known and best-loved choral works in music history is performed on All Saints' Sunday in Trondenes kirke. Gabriel Fauré's Requiem is filled with light and beautiful melodies. Many requiems contain drama and darkness. There is little of that in Fauré's work. Here it is rather peace and trust that the music expresses. Fauré himself called it “a lullaby for death”. The concert opens with music by, among others, Nystedt, Tavener and Mozart. Before the evening's main work is performed, the choir sings one of Edvard Grieg's four psalms: «Hvad est du dog skjøn». It is the very last piece Grieg wrote. Vox Arctica, string quintet and organ will set a beautiful full stop with this concert, which concludes this year's Trondenesdagene. Programme: Grieg / Hvad est du dog skjøn Fauré / Requiem
