Description
Greenland and Iceland are geographical neighbours, not so far from Norway. Contact between these three countries has varied throughout history, especially between Greenland and the other Nordic countries. There can be many reasons for this; for example, the Inuit have a language that differs from the other Nordic languages. The countries also have different traditions and cultural heritage. In today's society it is important to strengthen the cultural ties between the countries. That is why in this project we have linked Icelandic and Greenlandic literature and achieved a collaboration between Greenlandic, Icelandic and Norwegian composers, conductors and performers. The producers Stefan Sand (Iceland/Denmark), Nuka Alice (Greenland) and Rebekka Ingibjartsdóttir (Norway/Iceland) link together two folk tales: the Nordic saga of Olavik in Einar Benediksson's interpretation and the folk tale of the Inuit girl Navaranaaq. Duration: 70 minutes without an interval
