New Year's Concert With soloists and conductor Peter Whelan Join us as we set the tone for the new year. The programme features magnificent orchestral music and beautiful arias from two of the best-known and most-performed composers in music history: Mozart and Händel. There will be humour, elegance and musical fireworks, exactly what belongs at a New Year's concert. We open with the sparkling overture from the opera The Magic Flute by Mozart, before we join the vocal soloists Anna Devin (soprano) and Gregory Feldmann (baritone) in performing some of his best-known arias. From the world of opera the audience is taken on to London in the 1700s. Royal Fireworks by Händel was written precisely to accompany fireworks in the city. It is one of the most spectacular festive works in music history, and has a self-evident place at a New Year's concert. As is our tradition, we also bring local soloists with us in every city. You should not rule out that there will also be time for the popular encore: the Radetzky March. Since 1987 we have started the year with a classical concert. The year 2027 is no exception.
