Christmas Concert: Blåseensemblet and Tuva Syvertsen

Description

Hall: Blå Grotte Christmas holds a great deal. At this concert, Det Norske Blåseensemble invites you to an atmospheric pre-Christmas evening where familiar Christmas songs and hymns take on new clothes in the meeting between the ensemble, soloist Tuva Syvertsen and arranger, pianist and conductor Erlend Skomsvoll. The programme gathers some of the best-loved melodies from the Nordic Christmas tradition, such as Mitt hjerte alltid vanker, Det hev ei rose sprunge and Du grønne glitrende tre. The concert is a musical journey through the many moods of Christmas, from the intimate to the grand. For many years, Det Norske Blåseensemble has filled the cultural centres of Østfold with Christmas spirit. As in all other music, the ensemble makes the familiar Christmas repertoire its own. That is their hallmark. This year they give the Christmas songs new clothes together with soloist Tuva Syvertsen. Tuva Syvertsen is the frontwoman of Valkyrien Allstars and one of Norway's most distinctive musicians. She plays the Hardanger fiddle and is a vocalist, with a unique musical expression. She has hand-picked the concert's programme together with the ensemble and conductor and arranger Erlend Skomsvoll. Erlend is an award-winning pianist, composer, conductor and arranger who unites different genres. He is a member of Come Shine and regularly guests with Norwegian ensembles and orchestras, as arranger, conductor and pianist. As an arranger he has a rare ability to breathe new life into songs we thought we knew inside out. With surprising twists and a distinctiveness only he has. This is the first time he is leading a Christmas concert, and he would not want to do it with anyone other than the ensemble and Tuva. Erlend and Tuva have previously done projects for Risør Kammermusikkfestival. They also shared the stage when jazznorge celebrated Nora Borckstedt's 90th birthday at the Opera. They are both great communicators of music, and play with their hearts on their sleeves. Welcome to an evening where old melodies meet new expressions, in the unique atmosphere that only the pre-Christmas season and the Blåseensemblet create. Duration: 80 minutes without an interval Foyer opens 18:00. Concert starts 19:00. No age limit.
