The Elixir of Love - a sparkling comedy about love, hope and a little magic. What do you do when the one you love does not notice you? If you are the shy peasant Nemorino, you seize the chance when a travelling quack offers a "magic" love potion that is sure to make the girl of your dreams fall head over heels. It may sound like a fairy tale - but the result is a delightful mixture of misunderstandings, comic complications and warm human encounters. For the mysterious potion turns out to be something as simple as red wine, but perhaps it is precisely the belief in love that is the real magic? Gaetano Donizetti's The Elixir of Love is one of the world's best-loved comic operas. With catchy melodies, charming characters and the immortal aria Una furtiva lagrima, the production offers laughter, romance and moments that touch the heart. This is opera at its most entertaining - a warm and joyful story that suits those of you who are opera fans just as well as those of you who are about to experience opera for the very first time.
