Description

Young talents in a modern setting Tomorrow's opera singers tackle Mozart's timeless Così fan tutte on Scene 2. Cosiness and chaos on Scene 2 Così fan tutte is a timeless opera that shows that the game of love is just as complicated - and messy - today as in Mozart's time. The new cohort of singers in the talent programme WOYS (The Wilhelmsen Opera Studio for Young Singers) explores the joys, pain and chaos of modern love. The game of love Così fan tutte follows two young men, Ferrando and Guglielmo, who sign up for the cynical reality TV show "Don Alfonso's School for Lovers", hosted by the presenter Don Alfonso himself. The aim of the programme is to test the fidelity of the young men's girlfriends, Dorabella and Fiordiligi, by having the men disguise themselves as strangers and try to tempt the unsuspecting women into infidelity. The boys are certain that their girlfriends would never deceive them, Don Alfonso is certain that they will, and the young women have no idea that they are being manipulated and exploited to achieve high viewing figures ... What could possibly go wrong? In our digital age In this staging we meet Mozart's characters in our modern and digital world. We live in a time when social media, dating apps and reality TV add a new layer of complexity to love and relationships. What if Fiordiligi and Dorabella have only met Ferrando and Guglielmo online? What will happen when they meet the young men "in real life" - without filters and distance? Meet tomorrow's opera singers The singers in the Opera's own talent programme WOYS (The Wilhelmsen Opera Studio for Young Singers) have just completed their training and are ready to step out into their professional careers. The second cohort of WOYS singers, who have started here this season, now offers a light and lively interpretation of Mozart's masterpiece, together with a smaller ensemble of musicians on stage.
