Kristiansand Kammermusikkfestival
1. sep. - 3. sep.
Kristiansand
The vision behind the newly established Kristiansand Kammermusikkfestival is the freedom to create new musical dimensions for audiences and artists, the way we feel and believe music should be conveyed. We hope to meet the already classical-music-loving concertgoers who share our musical passion, but also to reach a young, new audience who have not yet become acquainted with this art form. Kristiansand has a rich cultural life, with a fine symphony orchestra and concert hall. Yet it has lacked a chamber music festival, something many central cities and towns in Norway offer. Our wish is that Kristiansand will now gain increased status as a city of art and culture, to the enrichment of its residents, and as a destination for music-loving visitors from Norway and abroad. The unique combination of beautiful nature, warm weather and world-class music, together with a large capacity to welcome visitors in the city's hotels and restaurants, makes Kristiansand an exquisite festival destination. That audiences can arrive not only by road, air, train or on foot, but also by sea, we consider a charming bonus. With our wish to convey music that goes straight to the heart, audiences will hear the most beautiful works from the Romantic period, Viennese Classicism and the Baroque, with touches of treasures from more modern times. On 1-3 September this year we present a pilot, and warmly welcome you to musical days in Kristiansand!
