Bach's Christmas Oratorio

Description

Conductor: Marit Bodsberg Programme: Johann Sebastian Bach: Christmas Oratorio (1734) Performers: Kilden Vokalensemble Kristiansand Domkor Domkirkens jentekor og guttekor Bach's Christmas Oratorio is among his best-known and best-loved works – six cantatas written in 1734 for the Christmas season, which tell the story of the birth of Jesus through a rich and varied musical expression. The music embraces festivity, solemnity and reflection, and has over generations become a natural centrepiece of Christmas concerts. Under the direction of Marit Bodsberg, and with Kilden Vokalensemble, this magnificent work becomes accessible to both loyal and new audiences. This is an opportunity to experience one of the great musical classics of Christmas.
