Since 1988, Nordlysfestivalen has developed from a small classical music festival into a large ten-day cultural celebration.
Here you can read a little more about who we are, our history and our goals and visions.
The northern lights are beautiful and magical, and today a driving force for bringing the world to Tromsø through visitors from all over the globe. At the same time, the northern lights are an inescapable manifestation of the north. In this way the northern lights also reflect the festival's core and raison d'être: A northern identity and reality - in encounter with artistic expressions from the whole world.
