🚂 Did you know that...

Dvořák was a great train enthusiast?

Have you just come home from a train holiday in Europe? Then you have something in common with Antonín Dvořák. Alongside music, the railway was the great passion of Dvořák's life. He spent hours at the Franz Josef railway station in Prague just to watch the trains come and go, and is said to have known the timetables by heart. The interest dates from his childhood in Nelahozeves, where at the age of nine he saw the railway line between Prague and Dresden being built straight through his home town. As a teacher he reportedly asked his pupils to describe their train journeys in the smallest detail - whether they wanted to or not. So the next time you are sitting on a delayed train, whether at home or out in Europe - put on some music and send a thought to Antonín!
