The classical music magazine Gramophone yesterday released the list of winners of its 2025 awards. Every year Gramophone presents a number of awards, 17 this year, to honour various players around the world. This year Norway scored a grand slam.
Bergen Filharmoniske Orkester won the award Orchestra of the Year! This was a category the public could vote for, and BFO has clearly played its way into the hearts of the majority. Very impressive. Congratulations.
Lise Davidsen, Operaorkesteret and Edward Gardner won the category Opera for their recording of Richard Wagner's opera The Flying Dutchman. Congratulations!
As if that were not enough, Spellemann Prize winner Vilde Frang recently won the award Concerto for her recording of Edward Elgar's Violin Concerto. Once again, congratulations!
It is incredibly fun to see Norwegian musicians and orchestras dominating abroad. We look forward to seeing what comes next.
