Work of the Year 2025 - Norsk Komponistforening

Norsk Komponistforening has awarded the prize for Work of the Year 2025. This time the jury settled on no fewer than 3 works that were placed on an equal footing for this prize. The winners are:

Kari Beate Tandberg – “Fabel” for orchestra
Written for KORK and premiered on 13 January 2023 in Store Studio

Bente Leiknes Thorsen – “Laughing my head off / Singing your heart in”
Commissioned by Det Norske Solistkor and premiered in Universitets Aula in Oslo on 14 June 2024

Martin Rane Bauck – “Night and Day – fotnoter til Mahlers syvende”
Premiered by Ensemble Temporum in Tøyen Kirke on 18 October 2024

About 100 works were proposed for the prize, while 18 works were nominated.
Somewhat confusingly, Work of the Year 2025 is chosen from among pieces premiered or made public in the period 2022-2024.
The external jury appointed by the board of the Composers' Association consisted of Simon Løffler, Inga Margrete Aas, Anders Krøger and Maja Solveig Kjelstrup Ratkje..
We congratulate the prizewinners, who each take with them NOK 50,000 into their further work.
