Wermland Opera

Wermland Opera, formerly Värmlandsoperan, has since 2003 been the name of what was previously called Musikteatern i Värmland. The institution was founded in 1975.
In the county music reform carried out in 1988, Musikteatern i Värmland was merged with Säffleteatern (which, however, left the cooperation after only a couple of years), the regional music department and Rikskonserter's Värmland office, and came to form Värmlands teater- och musikstiftelse. The foundation is based in Karlstad and is the principal for Värmlandsoperan and its orchestra Värmlandsoperans Sinfonietta (formerly Värmlands Sinfonietta).
Värmlandsoperan uses Karlstads teater for large productions and Spinneriet in Karlstad for the smaller ones.
