Description
The AKELA Quartet on tour The 4 young prize-winning musicians return to Nykøbing on Tuesday 20 October. AKELA means joy, and the joy of music and of playing for an audience is what matters most to the 4 young musicians, who have played together since 2019. The quartet has since earned much praise and recognition for its music, most recently the Carl Nielsen and Anne Marie Carl Nielsen Talent Prize in 2023 and the Léonie Sonning Talent Prize in 2024 – two very fine distinctions! The quartet consists of Clara Glasdam and Gustav Ranum, violin, Kirsten Wilbrandt Kjær, viola, and Oskar Reuben Friis-Hansen, cello. And yes, Kirsten's surname reveals a certain connection to our parish: she is the daughter of our parish priest, Sigrid Wilbrandt Kjær. The concert is on Tuesday 20 October at 19.00, and it is part of a concert tour with Danish songs arranged for the quartet by Philip Faber. Besides the Danish songs, AKELA plays a string quartet by the Finnish composer Jean Sibelius. Free admission
