Description

Sorrow, comfort, fear and hope Experience Mozart's magnificent and moving Requiem, when Kammerkoret Terpsichore invites you to a Sunday matinee at Birkerød Sognegård on Sunday 25 October at 16.00. Mozart's Requiem is one of the best-known and most emotionally charged works in classical music. The music moves between sorrow and comfort, darkness and hope - and holds an intensity that still grips the listener more than 200 years after the work was written. At the concert the Requiem is performed in a special version for piano four hands, choir and soloists. The arrangement was made by Carl Czerny in 1827 and makes it possible to experience the work without an orchestra, where the close and nuanced sound of the piano brings the choir and the soloists fully to the fore. Mozart's last work Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart began composing his Requiem in 1791, while he was seriously ill. When he died the same year, the work was not yet finished. His pupil Franz Xaver Süssmayr subsequently completed the work, taking Mozart's sketches and musical style as his starting point. The Requiem thus became Mozart's last great work - and a work that has since held a very special place in classical music.
