Description
All Souls' Day is a time for reflection and for remembering the departed. Duruflé's captivating Requiem from 1947 is written for choir, soloists and organ and consists of traditional Latin texts from the Catholic mass for the dead. The work is for the most part based on old Gregorian melodies, and it is therefore also more accessible and more melodic than much other recent music from this period. The music is known for its calm, meditative, but at times also grand and dramatic character. At the organ sits Karsten Gyldendorf, who is normally organist at Herlufsholms Kirke in Næstved, and organist Kevin Duggan will himself lead the choir. The other soloists taking part will be announced later.
