Duruflé's Requiem with Sankt Pauls Kammerkor

Description

Programme: Duruflé's Requiem, two motets by Duruflé. Prelude from Duruflé's organ suite. Soloists: soprano Maria Hanke and baritone Christian Wenzel Conductor and cello: Klaus Munk-Nielsen Organist: Sven Verner Olsen Admission: 150 kr. at the door About the music: Duruflé combines the old Gregorian medieval chant with modern French sonorities. This creates a wonderfully atmospheric mood that brings the audience into a kind of meditative state. A state we could all do with being in once in a while. About Sankt Pauls Kammerkor: Sankt Pauls Kammerkor is an ambitious choir that has existed since 1988. The choir works primarily with a cappella church music and consists of 20 singers aged between 30 and 60. Until 2016 we were based at Sankt Pauls Kirke in Nyboder in Copenhagen, but since January 2017 we have had our permanent base at Kapernaumskirken on Frederikssundsvej in Copenhagen. The musical direction of Sankt Pauls Kammerkor is in the hands of Klaus Munk-Nielsen, who trained in choral and ensemble conducting at the Institute of Musicology, with further training under Frans Rasmussen, Giordano Bellincampi, Matthew Rowe and Alice Granum. He also trained as a cellist at, among other places, Yale University, has 30 years of experience as a choral and orchestral conductor and is today employed as organist at Jesu Hjerte Kirke in Copenhagen. In addition, he is the permanent conductor of Søborg Motetkor and Lillerødkoret and appears as a cellist in Trio Convivio.
