Organ Concert - Between Light and Darkness

Description

In the darkest time of the year, organist Magnus Hegaard invites you to an organ concert in the spirit of Advent, filled with light, darkness, anticipation and longing. In the midst of a dark and chaotic wartime, the German interwar composer Hugo Distler wrote music that brimmed with both life and clarity, while he struggled to find room for his faith and his work in the growing world order of the Nazis. At the concert you can hear Hugo Distler's arrangements of three German Advent hymns. They are mirrored by three arrangements of the same hymns written by Johann Sebastian Bach and the Baroque music that Distler was especially inspired by. During the concert Magnus Hegaard talks about Distler's life and work and about the Advent season. Free admission. Programme: Distler / Arrangements of three German Advent hymns J.S. Bach / Arrangements of the same three Advent hymns
