Description
Kom og syng! Project Choir // Kom og syng! Project Orchestra // Conductor Nils Meier Countless legends are attached to Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's last masterpiece: his Requiem in D minor, K. 626. In 1791 an unknown messenger delivered the commission to the then 35-year-old composer. Mozart himself never lived to hear the first performance, nor even the completion of his own work, as an early death tore him from life that same year. The unclear circumstances surrounding Mozart's sudden death gave rise to countless speculations and myths about this legendary work. In the end it was his pupil Franz Xaver Süßmayr who gave the Requiem the form we know today. But nevertheless, and perhaps precisely because fate prevented the young master from completing the work, this soul mass, written between life and death, is one of his most brilliant works and a central work in the choral-symphonic repertoire. On 22 November Mozart's musical legacy fills Skt. Lukas Kirke. Choir: Kom og syng! Project Choir Orchestra: Kom og syng!
