Beethoven String Trio MARATHON! Part 1

Description

In the month that marks 200 years since Beethoven's death, Dahlia String Trio performs Beethoven's complete string trios over two evenings. The five works, written by a relatively young Beethoven, were all composed before the better-known string quartets, but are true masterpieces in their own right. They unite the classical clarity of Haydn and Mozart with a new dramatic intensity. Beethoven admired the ideals behind the political revolution of his time, and this spirit of struggle and self-assertion rings clearly through the trios' tense dialogue. Taken together, the five trios appear as a manifesto for a composer who already here seeks artistic independence and a new musical language.
