Monday Concert with Duo LunAre

Description

Duo LunAre consists of the oboists Maria Lundbak and Freja Arendt. Together the two explore the sonic universe of two oboes rather than one. As a duo of two of the same instrument, Duo Lunare works partly on examining the oboe's contrasts and different colours, and partly on making the two instruments melt together so completely that you sometimes can't tell who is playing what! At this evening's concert they play both pure duo works for two oboes AND Baroque double concertos accompanied by the organist Kevin Duggan. Review: "Duo LunAre delivered an utterly wonderful concert for the festival. They combined their strong musicianship, virtuoso technique and outstanding ensemble playing with ingenious spatial set-ups, as Mahler would have done. This made a sky-high technical level and an experience of great interest to the audience come together as a higher unity. No wonder DR was on the spot. Highly recommended." Jakob Hedegaard, festival director at Lille Sydfynsk Orgelfestival Maria Lundbak trained at Musikhögskolan in Malmö, Det Kongelige Danske Musikkonservatorium and in the soloist class at the Syddansk Musikkonservatorium in Odense, where she made her debut in June 2022. Freja Arendt trained at Det Kongelige Danske Musikkonservatorium and Norges Musikkhøgskole, and was an academy fellow with Oslo Filharmonien in 2025.
