Rudersdal Sommerkoncerter
7. aug. - 28. aug.
Holte
Rudersdal Sommerkoncerter was founded by the violinist Christine Pryn in 2010 and has since offered a series of concerts every year with some of the most innovative musicians and ensembles from Denmark and abroad. So far, musicians from over 25 countries have visited the festival and performed music from 800 years.
Rudersdal Sommerkoncerter fills the gap between the traditional chamber music festival and the niche festival for new music. Here you will not get Beethoven's complete string quartets, but rather the classics in the company of both new music and works by undeservedly lesser-known composers.
Every year a Danish and an international festival composer are appointed. They have included Bent Sørensen, Pelle Gudmundsen-Holmgreen and Poul Ruders. Since 2017 Rudersdal Sommerkoncerter has collaborated with the music publisher Hans Sikorski in Hamburg, which has made it possible to host some of the very biggest names in the world, such as Giya Kancheli and Lera Auerbach.
In 2018 the ensemble Rudersdal Kammersolister was added as festival ensemble at the request of none other than Lera Auerbach. With some of the best chamber musicians from the Øresund region, it has lifted the festival to new heights and earned much praise.
Many of the festival's concerts are innovative in form and programme, and the aim is to create a meaningful connection between new, old, familiar and unfamiliar music.
In 2021 the festival composers are the Dane Thomas Agerfeldt and Franghiz Alizade from Azerbaijan. New this year, two of the concerts are combined with expert talks. You can hear the tour guide Søren Bjelke from the travel agency Viktors Farmor tell about the country of Azerbaijan, which few people probably know much about. In addition, Joanna Tamborska (formerly employed at Det Danske Kulturinstitut) talks about Polish poster art in connection with the concert in which the Polish NeoQuartet performs.
Among the other artists are the pianist Pål Eide, the mezzo-soprano Nana Bugge Rasmussen, Scandinavian Guitar Duo, the new Baroque ensemble AVERI, which specialises in music by female Baroque composers, and Københavns Messingkvintet.
