Welcome to Bornholms Musikfestival 2023. The concerts take place between 20 July and 21 August and offer ten exciting concerts, ranging from music from the 14th century to brand-new compositions. There are larger and smaller ensembles on the programme, all played by outstanding musicians who will give listeners memorable experiences: Musica Ficta and Ensemble Storstrøm under the direction of composer and conductor Bo Holten perform a modern adaptation of music by Guillaume de Machaut and Francesco Landini. A specially selected ensemble plays a repeat-listening concert with music by the composer Niels Rosing-Schow and, among others, also a large accordion work by Sofia Gubaidulina. This year's composer Allan Gravgaard Madsen is presented in a concert with Ensemble Stralo. New works are also played in concerts with Amalie Malling and Carl Nielsen Kvintetten with a new work by Hans Abrahamsen, and Martin Åkerwall and Petter Ettrup, who play a new work by Josefine Opsahl. Other duo concerts are played by Andreas Brantelid and Bengt Forsberg with 20th-century music for cello and piano, and by Poul Høxbro and the harpist Helen Reid with traditional British music. Maria Steinaa on flute and Petya Hristova on piano play a duo concert with French music. Finally, two exceptionally promising young string quartets, Absalon String Quartet and AKELA, under the direction of Tim Frederiksen, professor at Det Kongelige Danske Musikkonservatorium, play two exciting programmes of classical and more recent music. Tickets can be bought at billetten.dk from 10 April and at the door before the concerts. Detailed information about the programme will follow soon. With best wishes for a good festival summer
