The festival in brief Hindsgavl Festival is one of Europe's leading international classical chamber music festivals – with an edge towards brand-new music. It takes place in a concentrated, continuous course over 8-9 days, during which musicians and audience live side by side in the beautiful surroundings of Hindsgavl Slot near Middelfart. In 2018 the festival could count its 50th season, since 1951. With the historic castle as its setting, the festival combines, in the finest way, intimate concerts with world stars, young talents and new sound art with magnificent surroundings that invite relaxation, exploration and physical activity. Closer to the music One of the festival's basic ideas is to communicate classical and new music in a way that reduces the distance between music and audience. Musicians and audience not only live together at the castle, but almost daily it will be possible to hear the musicians rehearse – quite informally, and after breakfast the audience has the chance to talk with the musicians about yesterday's concert. The festival also offers lectures and panel discussions with musicians and composers, hosted by, among others, Danmarks Radio's Mathias Hammer.
