Klassisk i Sorø - Sorø Internationale Musikfestival
We safeguard classical music, and convey it to a wide audience
We are a classical music festival in Sorø – an association that, through a series of concerts, tries to safeguard classical music and its artists and convey the music to a wide audience.
Through about 15 concerts a year we try to put together a broad bouquet of offerings for everyone who loves music and seeks a good concert experience.
Using the traditional concert form, concerts for children, experimental interdisciplinary concerts, opera concerts and large symphony and oratorio concerts, we try to show different genres within the classical field.
We consist of supporting members and a board that, on a voluntary basis, take on the work of organising the concerts and seeking financial support to hold them.
The festival was started by Knud Vad, organist at Sorø Klosterkirke. The start was in 1969, with the 1st season in 1970 under the original name Sorø Orgelfestival.
